Chrysler 300M A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: Can the A/C Condenser Be Serviced Without Draining the Cooling System or Removing the Radiator on Chrysler 300M?
    A:
Between the radiator and the front bumper is the A/C condenser which does not need to be drained before service. Open the vehicle's hood, unplug the negative Battery Cable from the remote terminal and then withdrew the refrigerant from the system. Unscrew the retainers for the upper radiator core support and keep them nearby. Unfasten the hose fittings for the auxiliary transmission cooler, but do not open them at the cooler yet and afterwards take out the screw and the retainer bracket for those lines. Tighten in the opposite direction: remove the top condenser's screws first, then the liquid line and discharge line fasteners and finally, remove the discharge line screws from the condenser. Carefully remove the condenser from the radiator and with the auxiliary transmission cooler attached, pull it out of your vehicle while removing the auxiliary transmission cooler retaining straps. Don't let the refrigerant plumbing have sharp bends when you install the new condenser along with its straps; otherwise, the air conditioning may work less effectively. Keep a curve on your flexible hose lines for refrigerant no shorter than ten times the diameter and direct them at least 80 millimeters (3 inches) away from the Exhaust Manifold. Locate the auxiliary transmission cooler where the condenser was and fix it in place with new retaining straps. Next, put the condenser in the vehicle, screw it to the radiator with the original parts and tighten the screws to 10.5 Nm (95 in. lbs.) Secure the inlet side of the liquid line to the condenser with a retaining nut that is tightened to 17 ft. lbs.; do the same for the discharge line on the condenser outlet. Put in the retainer bracket and screw for the extra transmission lines, join the ends of the auxiliary cooler pipes and set the upper radiator core support back in place. Finally, attach the negative battery cable remote terminal to the remote battery post, remove all the refrigerant and top off the system.
