To put the negative battery cable into the engine area, sit the cable in place and support the vehicle using a hoist. Join the battery negative cable to the transmission housing with a bolt, but adjust it to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.) of tightness. Replace the battery cable retaining pushpins, fasteners and routing clips one by one, so the cable returns to its original spot, then lower the car. Then, attach the battery negative cable to the right front strut tower and connect the cable and only then install the spare tire cover. Secure the batter negative wire to the rear compartment and fasten it using the provided fastener; then start the cover of the spare tire. The battery positive cable must be placed horizontally under the floor cross members, next to where the insulator is removed. Once the insulator is aside, install the cable on the white, metal bulkhead fastener. Place the insulator over the bulkhead and run the battery cable to the routing clips at the back and back-seat areas, making sure to then lay the carpet back in place. Be sure to use the correct B-pillar lower panel, front and rear door sill trim panels and rear seat cushion, so that the retainer loops engage smoothly. Install the front seat properly, then hook the red end of the battery cable to the fastener by the rear PDC and place the PDC cover on top. Don't forget to connect the battery before you put on the spare tire cover. Link the positive battery cable in the engine compartment to the routing clips on the back of the engine for 2.7L and 3.5L engines and to the routing clip behind the starter for 5.7L engines. First, connect the battery positive cable to both the starter and the bulkhead fastener. Then put on the right front wheelhouse splash shield and only then lower the vehicle, connecting the negative battery cable and installing the spare tire cover.
