How to Safely Detach a Hood Latch on Chrysler 300?

Before you disconnect the hood latch, make sure to disconnect the battery negative wire. Disconnect the left underhood appearance cover from the headlamp mounting crossmember, then unlink the inboard end of the left cover with the inboard end of the right cover and take it out. Unnext, take out the right underhood appearance cover by unsnapping it from the headlamp mounting crossmember. Photos documenting the area just above the front of the headlamp will help when you put everything back together. Unfasten the latch from the front of the crossmember by removing the two screws, then pull away the latch out of the way far enough so you can get to the hood cable housing and the latch release cable. After that, take out the hood latch from inside the car.

First, fix the latch striker (1) onto the hood before installing the hood latch coat. With the latch installed, tighten its bolt (1), using the bolts (2), to a torque of 10 Nm (88 in. lbs.).
