How to Service and Repair an Ignition Lock Cylinder on Chrysler 300?

Unplug the negative battery and pry open the bezel ignition switch to work on and repair the ignition lock cylinder. Then, carefully remove the center console bezel from the instrument panel. Before pulling the key cylinder, place the ignition key in the ignition, turn it on and press the locking tab on the switch casing to lift the cylinder. The first step is to insert the key into the lock and turn it to on which makes the retaining tab go down on the lock. Place the end of the ignition lock cylinder where the socket in the housing is located and see that the socket is positioned to be "ON." Lift the housing to reveal the grooves, place the cylinder over them and slide it until the tab is sticking out through the door. Once the key is in Off, take it out, reinstall the bezel for the center console to the instrument panel, then add the ignition switch ring and last, connect the negative lead of the battery.

How to Service and Repair an Ignition Lock Cylinder on Chrysler Crossfire?

When the ignition lock cylinder needs service, put grease into the lock cylinder if it is notching or jamming; replace it if the trouble continues. Press the escutcheon through the hole using a suitable tool first. Put a plastic wedge behind the lock and lift the transponder coil off it. After that, fit the sleeve around the cap and move the lock cylinder to position "1" using the key. Start by turning the cap on the lock cylinder counter-clockwise through 90° and remove it after that. Before putting the lock cylinder into the cap, spray grease on the outside of it. Slide the key into the cap and keep going until it meets the stop in the lock cylinder. Screw the cap in using your hands until it locks and finally turn the key to the first "0". Place the lock, escutcheon and transponder coil all together and press the escutcheon to ensure they fit.
