For servicing or fixing the spindle on vehicles with rear disc brakes, raise the car, hold it up safely, undo the wheel mounting nuts and remove the rear wheel and tire. After that, take out the caliper guide pin bolts and remove the caliper from the disc brake adapter. Fasten the caliper to a wire hanger or bungee cord and hang it in a safe place so it doesn't dangle by the flex hose and damage it. Take away the brake retaining clips and remove the brake rotor. Lift off the cap on the hub and bearing, take out the hub nut and remove the hub and bearing from the spindle. Open the
Parking Brake Cable and routing brackets by taking off their securing bolts on the axle trailing arm. For trucks with antilock brakes, loosen the screw securing the antilock brake wheel speed sensor to the disc brake adapter and remove the sensor head. At the end, undo the four bolts joining the adapter and spindle to the axle and pull the adapter aside as you loosen the spindle to separate it from the back of the adapter.
