First, remove the assembly consisting of the front wheel bearing, hub and
Steering Knuckle from your vehicle before servicing any parts. Misalign each
Wheel Stud in the bearing retainer plate notch and use Remover, Special Tool C-4150A, to push them through the hub. Turn the hub until the stud holes are lined up and insert Special Tool 1130 between the hub and bearing retainer plate. Secure it there with hand tightened nuts. Set the steering knuckle face down in the arbor press with the bearing splitter and with the Remover/Installer, Special Tool 6644-2 on the small end of the hub, press the hub out so it comes out with the wheel bearing. Eliminate the bearing splitter and the three bolts holding the bearing retainer plate and afterwards remove the plate. Return the steering knuckle to the arbor press and watch out that the press blocks do not touch the bearing inside; then use MB-990799 to press the bearing away from the knuckle. First, use Bearing Splitter, Special Tool 1130 to place between the hub flange and the bearing race. Then, with Special Tool 6644-2, press the hub out so the bearing race detaches. Before assembly, clean the bore of the steering knuckle, then use the arbor press to push it in with Installer Special Tool C-4698-2 under it. Master fit the new wheel bearing snugly into the bore, then use Installer, Special Tool 5052, to force it inside. After removing the knuckle, fix the bearing retainer plate in the press and tighten three bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.) into the notch. Place each wheel mounting stud into the holes of the hub flange, use C-4698-1 to wedge the hub in the arbor press and push the stud in with some pressure. Using Remover/Installer, Special Tool MB-990799, place the steering knuckle in the press again, with the inner race supported and let the hub slide into the wheel bearing so that it is locked. In the end, remove the steering knuckle and tools from the press, check that the hub isn't binding and secure the steering knuckle once again on the vehicle.
