The Clock Spring assembly cannot be taken out until you disconnect the battery negative cable, wait for two minutes and disable the SRS. Turn the
Steering Wheel all the way until the front wheels are straight ahead and then either lock it to the steering column or secure the Clock Spring rotor in place with the case to keep the wheel centered. A compromise in Clock Spring centering requires that both the Clock Spring and the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) be changed. First of all, line up the front wheels ahead, simply pull out the negative battery post and remove the driver
Air Bag from the steering wheel. After that, pull the steering wheel harness connector from the upper Clock Spring connector and remove the steering wheel from the column. If using the Clock Spring again, keep the rotor in the center with a clip or tape until it is mounted once more. Lift the upper and lower shrouds from the steering column and then take out the screw that holds the Clock Spring to it. Remove the two tightened screws at the back of the Clock Spring and slide it back to disconnect the multi-function switch, SAS, two Clock Spring and adjustable pedal switch connectors from the steering column housing, then separate the Clock Spring from its mounting plate. The Clock Spring must be removed from the steering column, as it is not able to be fixed and must be changed if it has stopped working, is hurt or if the driver air bag has been set off. Remove the multi-function switch and the adjustable pedal switch blank filler or switch from the Clock Spring as required.
