For 3.3/3.8L engine Crankshaft Position Sensor installation, first check the sensor O-ring for damage, if damaged replace it with a new one lubricating it with clean engine oil. Using a twisting motion, insert the crankshaft position sensor into the transmission case until fully seated, making sure that it is completely flush to the mounting surface so that the mounting tang on the sensor won't be damaged. With the sensor held in place, install and torque the retaining bolt to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Then, join the electrical connector to the CKP sensor and lock it. Finally, attach the negative battery cable and then tighten the nut to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.) The Cam/Crank Variation Relearn procedure must be performed after any powertrain component repairs or replacements such as flywheel, valvetrain, camshaft, and crankshaft sensor replacement.
