If the window glass is already damaged, use a sharp cold knife to remove urethane adhesive from the outer area. For a whole windshield, gently remove the old glass from the interior using a power oscillating or reciprocating knife. Before installing, open the left-front door glass, as sealing it before the urethane dries can allow water into the car. Let the urethane dry for more than 24 hours before operating your car. Check that the urethane bonding layer on the windshield fence matches the windshield's outlines and secure the support spacers onto the weld studs or repair screws just below the windshield opening. Center the windshield in the opening over the compression spacers, with the edges resting on the pinch urethane adhesive on the weld fence; if this is not true, adjust the weld fence edge to suit the new glass. Get rid of the windshield, rest it on a work surface so that it is inside-up and space your padding blocks 75 cm apart. Then give the interior a good clean using ammonia-based glass cleaner and a cloth that doesn't leave lint. Add moulding all around the windshield, apply Glass Prep adhesion promoter 25 mm wide around the edge with a smear and rub it smooth with a lint-free dry cloth to remove any streaks. Then, just as in Step 1, use Glass Primer around the perimeter, giving it three minutes to dry. Take the razor knife and cut away as much urethane as possible without harming the paint around the windshield, apply the pinch weld primer around and allow at least 3 minutes for it to dry. If low viscosity urethane adhesive is the type you chose, slip in compression spacers on the fence surrounding the windshield, then apply a 10 mm bead precisely on the center line. Get support to help you set the windshield over the opening, gently drop it into position and as you do, adjust the molding as needed until it's flush with the roof line and A-pillars. Before the urethane dries, use Mopar Super Kleen or an equivalent to clean it off and put five lengths of 50 mm masking tape, spaced 250 mm apart, on the molding's underside. After that, add the A-pillar trim panels, install the cowl cover, put on the wipers and fix the inside rear view mirror, then once the urethane is cured, clean up with the tape strips and test the repair using water.
