The first step is to place the round socket from support cylinder 2 onto ball stud mounted on the hinge's bracket at the deck lid. Reach your hand into the assembly and press the ball socket onto the ball stud until you hear the retainer clip pop. After that, place the ball socket from the rod end of the support cylinder over the ball stud attached to the lower deck lid bracket. As before, use your hands to push the ball socket onto the ball stud and wait till the retainer clamp fits into place. Check the retaining clip in each ball socket at the support cylinder end after you have installed the system. After that, take away the service prop or block and close the deck lid.

First, to install the liftgate support cylinder if removed, attach the pivot to the liftgate and tighten to 34 Nm (25 ft. Lbs.). Next hook the liftgate support cylinder to the liftgate and pivot, making sure that the retainer that holds the cylinder securely on the pivot is fully seated. In the event the pivot is removed, affix it to the D pillar and secure with 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.) torque. Next, place the liftgate support cylinder to the D pillar and bolt it to the pivot making sure the retainer is fully engaged. Remove the lifting device from the liftgate finally.
