First, turn off the air bag system by disconnecting and isolating the battery negative cable, then wait a couple of minutes for the capacitor to discharge, before working on the heater control in the front. First, take the central bezel out of the instrument panel and lay it face down on an area that will keep it safe from injury. Authors of this manual suggest that, if there is an Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system, remove the infrared sensor jumper harness connector from the A/C-heater control. After that, take out the six screws that hold the A/C-heater control to the back of the center bezel and remove the control. For installation, place the A/C-heater control behind the instrument panel center bezel and attach it with the six screws, tightened to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Once the ATC system is present, put the infrared sensor jumper harness back on the A/C-heater control, mount the center bezel to the instrument panel and then rewire the negative cable onto the battery.
