To work on the bushing, begin by unhooking and removing the battery negative cable from the post before you raise and support your vehicle. Take out the wheel mounting nuts and the whole tire and wheel on each side, then unfasten the rear exhaust from the car. Anchoring the rubber coupler and axle flange using alignment index marks, you should remove the bolts and nuts of the propeller shaft coupler-to-axle assembly and attach a bungee cord to the fuel tank straps to hold up the shaft. Disconnect the cable going from the front parking brake to the right rear cable above the axle differential and also detach the front
Parking Brake Cable from its position on the equalizer. Loosen the screw holding the front parking brake cable routing bracket to the rear crossmember front flange. Removing bolts from the guide pin on disc brakes, lift the caliper off the back of the brake adapter and its pads and then use a bungee cord or wire to hold the caliper above the rear suspension. To change SRT8 disc brakes, first use a trim stick to make the pistons move back into their housings, then stabilize the spring link using a transmission jack to reach the caliper's lower bolt. Unbolt the caliper to the knuckle, remove it along with the pads and suspend the assembly safely out of your way. Unplug the keyboard connectors connected to the wheel speed sensor from the body wire harness connector in the luggage compartment floor pan and disconnect the left wheel speed sensor cable from its routing clip. For each rear shock absorber mounting point, get the bolt and nut out, mark the body where the rear crossmember will be and then repeat this process for the rest. Insert jack stands at the forward end of the engine cradle and then use a jack at the middle of the rear axle differential. First disconnect the fuel filler tube, then take out the four bolts at the front and rear connecting the crossmember on each side. Raise and lower the crossmember a bit, just enough to take the propeller shaft off the rear axle differential and then lower it carefully to support the rear suspension while the bushings are being replaced using jack stands. Remove the spring links and take out the
Coil Springs with isolators and mark exactly where the bushings are on the crossmember. Unbolt and take off the bushing nut holding the compression link, then unfasten the travel stop from the bushing's metal sleeve with a grinder. Put Slide Support 9031-9 onto the appropriate end of the crossmember, then secure it with the set-screws. Slide Brace 9031-10 between Support 9031-9 and the bore flange so that the set-screws lock it snugly. Before putting Press C-4212F to use, lubricate the screw-drive and then place all tools over the bushing to ensure the Remover is inside the ridges. Using the Press screw-drive, ease out the bushing from the crossmember and then take out all your tools.
