Remove the vehicle's transaxle and then take off the drive plate to service and repair the
Crankshaft main bearing seal. Stick a 3/16" wide flat bladed screwdriver in between the dust lip and the crankshaft seal, pushing the blunt end against the crankshaft seal edge and prying it out, without touching the surface of the seal, but slightly making contact with the edge of the crankshaft. When there is a burr or scratch at the crank chamfer, use 400 grit sandpaper to clean the surface to prevent seal damage when mounting. Now, put the Special Tool 6926-1 pilot onto the crankshaft, making certain the magnetic base faces down while it is straight. Put the seal over the pilot tool, so the lip is against the crankshaft and keep the tool on the crankshaft as you install the seal. With Special Tool 6926-2 Installer, place the seal into the housing, leaving it level with its housing, remove the tool, insert the C-4171 Handle and drive the seal into the housing.
