You should begin the service of the rocker arm assembly by taking off the cylinder head cover(s). Remember to spin the engine by rotating the
Crankshaft, so the valves or pistons do not get damaged. Turn the engine so the cam lobe is at the bottom center (heel) for the rocker arm you are taking out, ease down the valve spring with Adaptor 8215 and 8216 Tools only enough to let go of the rocker arm. Separate the rocker arm from the cylinder head and locate where the rocker arms belong if you plan to use them again. Take each rocker arm one by one and inspect for wear or damage and inspect the cam follower assembly, too, supplying replacements when needed. Apply clean engine oil to the rocker arm, put the cam lobe on the base circle of the rocker arm and rotate the engine until the cam lobe moves away from the rocker arm you're installing. With the Special Tools 8215 and 8216 Adaptor, lower the valve spring so the rocker arm is placed over the valve and
Lash Adjuster and then confirm the contact before removing the pressure from the valve spring. Repeat the same process for each rocker arm you are installing and at the end, place back the cylinder head covers.
