When servicing or repairing the power steering pump on a 3.5L engine, drain as much fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as you possibly can. Following that, remove the plastic cover that wraps the engine, then undo the nut at the bottom of the tube and disconnect the hose from the pump. First, undo the pressure hose bolt at the cylinder head, then take out the clamp securing the supply hose and lastly remove the hose from the fitting. Both sides of the vehicle must be raised, the wheel mounting nuts loosened and the entire right front tire and wheel assembly removed. Remove the drive spring shade and then remove the
Drive Belt. Put the vehicle on the ground and remove the nuts that connect the right engine mount bracket to the bracket. Place a block of wood under the engine
Oil Pan, ensuring it fits well and raise the jack until you can just push the block into the oil pan. While viewing the pump drive pulley, slowly raise the right side of the engine until all three power steering pump mounting bolts show up through the clearings in the pulley. After that, unscrew the three bolts that fix the pump to the motor and remove the power steering pump.
