How to Properly Install a Steering Wheel on Dodge Journey?

Before applying the steering wheel, make sure the front wheels are in Straight-ahead position and turn signal stalk is in Neutral position. Do not drive the steering wheel over the shaft of the steering column. Line up the wide mounting spline of the steering wheel with the missing spline area of the steering column shaft and push the wheel onto the shaft and the Clock Spring should line up with the back of the wheel without binding. Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) the steering wheel retaining bolt. Install the driver air bag and connect the wiring connector at the Clock Spring. After the battery reconnection, perform the air bag System Test to prevent uncontrollable air bag deployment resulting in serious injury. Reconnect the battery and make sure the vehicle and system operate properly.

How to Safely and Correctly Remove a Steering Wheel on Dodge Journey?

When taking out the steering wheel, confirm the tires are facing forward, connect the negative battery cable to disable the air bags so they won't unwittingly deploy.
