Dodge Magnum Blend Door Actuator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Blend Door Actuator on Dodge Magnum?
    A:
If you have air bag-equipped cars, you need to remove the negative Battery Cable, wait two minutes and then isolate it to disable the air bag system. A heater-A/C system for one zone uses just one blend actuator, but a system for two zones needs an actuator for each side. To disconnect the driver's side assembly, remove the negative battery cable, take out the instrument panel silencer and unscrew the three bolts holding the blend door actuator to the HVAC air distribution housing. Unplug the HVAC wire harness from the connector and take out the actuator. Install the actuator on the driver side of the HVAC air distribution housing, line up the splines on their output shafts and secure it with screws tightened to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Afterward, reconnect the HVAC wire harness, insert the instrument panel silencer back-in and remember to reinstall the negative battery cable. The passenger side air distribution system includes disconnecting negative battery cable, removing the Glove Box and releasing the three screws that secure the blend door actuator to the housing. Take out the actuator and disconnect its connection to the HVAC wire harness. Install the new actuator onto the passenger side of the air distribution housing, straighten the splines when needed, tighten the holding screws to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.), reattach the HVAC wire harness, reinstall the glove box and then reconnect the negative battery cable.
