The Dodge neon cars have a part named Clutch Cable that assists on the proper interlocking of the engine with the transmission system. Through the control of the slippage between these components, the Clutch cable helps drivers shift, stop, and do Low speed control. It becomes important to ensure that the Clutch Cable remains in good working condition in order that it may serve its purpose of supporting other sub-systems in the Clutch System. Like any other Clutch Cables, at some point in time due to constant use, the ones found in Dodge Neon also show signs of deterioration and must therefore be replaced. It is therefore crucial that regular replacement time of a faulty Clutch Cable be effected as this is important when there is need to have some sort of interaction between the clutch and the transmission so as to enable efficiency in the delivery of power to the required engine.

Dodge Neon Clutch Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Clutch Cable on Dodge Neon?
    A:
Before working on the clutch cable, disconnect both the Battery Cables, remove the battery clamp and then take out the battery. After that, remove the Battery Tray from the mount bracket and the bellhousing cover. Take the clutch cable out of the transaxle housing and release lever and next take it out of the clutch pedal spacer. Avoid touching the clutch cable assembly, so you don't disturb the adjuster mechanism, making it harder to put back. Steer the cable through the bore in the pedal assembly and then unhook it from the vehicle. Before installation, insert the part of the cable that goes in the clutch pedal and link it to the spacer installed under the clutch pedal. Pull the release lever end of the cable until it is taut, then push the clutch cable housing toward the dash; this should move between 30 and 50 mm with pressing pressure under 25 lbs. Should the object remain still, this could mean the installation is off or it's broken, so investigate those causes first. Connect the end of the cable to the clutch release lever which is part of the transaxle housing. After that, put back the cap for the bellhousing, the battery tray, the battery and the hold-down clamp and finally reattach both battery cables. Always check that the clutch cable is in correct working order.
