The first step in repairing or servicing the A/T shifter is to disconnect the negative
Battery Cable and place it to one side. Turn the set screw counterclockwise and take off the knob from the shifter handle. Following that, detach the center console first and then the shifter bezel. First, pull out the shift cable from the assembly and then unhook the shifter/ignition interlock cable from the shifter lever and bracket. Remove the four nuts holding the shifter assembly in place and remove it from the car once they are out. As you install, set the gearshift mechanism in position and fasten all four nuts to a torque of 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Replace the gearshift and shifter/ignition interlock cables onto their corresponding plugs. Once you've done that, fit the shifter bezel, rejoin the center console assembly and topped off by loosely installing the gearshift knob so you can tighten the set screw to 2 Nm (15 inch lbs.) torque.
