Before taking out the Clock Spring assembly, turn off the SRS by removing and insulating the negative
Battery Cable and then allow two minutes for the air bag system capacitor to discharge. The molded plastic locking pin on a service replacement Clock Spring must stay put until the
Steering Wheel is fitted; otherwise, the Clock Spring must be re-centered. Set the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position and click the lock on the steering system before starting the job. Take off the steering wheel by first removing the negative battery cable. In order to avoid the rotor moving during installation, keep it secured to the Clock Spring when you remove the steering wheel. Pull the
Steering Column down as far as it will go and take out both upper and lower shrouds. Next up, pull the right multi-function switch away from the Clock Spring and then pull away the left multi-function switch. Remove the three screws connecting the Clock Spring to the steering column lock housing, then bring out the Clock Spring and take out its three harness connectors from the back of the case for removal from the steering column.
