First, put a jack under the bottom end of the inner suspension arm, then lift and support the vehicle there. First, take out the wheel and tire assembly, then the disc brake caliper and lastly the wheel speed sensor. Support the lower control arm and then take off both the cotter pins and nuts from the ball joints. Put the Ball Joint Remover C-3564-A between ball joints and rotate its threaded part, then hit the knuckle with a hammer to help separate the ball joints. Unthread the ball joint from the suspension arm using Tool C-3561. When installing, use Tool C-3561 to thread the joint in and tighten it to 170 Nm (125 ft. lbs.). The distance from the ball joint hex to the suspension arm bore should be 0.25 - 1.25mm (0.01 - 0.05 inch). Apply a fresh seal to the ball joint and tighten it, then place the steering knuckle on the top ball joint. Apply the retaining nut to the top ball joint and tighten it to 183 Nm (135 ft. lbs.), before putting on the new cotter pins. The wheel speed sensor, disc brake caliper and wheel and tire assembly should be reinstalled prior to lowering the vehicle. Don't forget to check the front wheel alignment.
