Service can be performed on the A/C heater control by first disabling the air bag system via the battery, then waiting two minutes to let the air bag's capacitor drain and avoid triggering it accidentally. Start by taking off the engine cover in the passenger side and find the vacuum harness near the left defroster outlet in the distribution duct, then disconnect it. Then, pull the cluster bezel off the instrument panel and take out the screws holding the heater-A/C control onto the panel. Lift the heater-A/C assembly from the instrument panel to get to the connections, disconnect the harnesses and pull out the control assembly. Book-in this order: connect the wire harness inside the heater-A/C control, place it on top of the instrument panel and hold it in place with the screws, tightening them to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). After that, reinstall the cluster bezel, attach the separated halves of the harness connector, fit the engine cover and lastly fasten the battery's negative terminal.
