Before servicing the front blower motor, remove the battery cable from the negative terminal and take out the wire harness plug from the blower motor. After removing the blower motor cooling tube from the nipple on the blower housing cover, unscrew the three mounting screws on the plate and take out the blower motor assembly. If there is air conditioning in the vehicle, move the suction and discharge lines as needed to help take out the air. Afterwards, disconnect the retainer clip from the hub and slide out the blower wheel from the motor shaft. To fit the blower wheel, align its hub with the shaft, making certain the flat part of the shaft meets up with the one inside the hub. Put the retainer clip over the blower wheel hub so that the ears of the retainer clip are indexed by the flats on both the blower motor shaft and blower wheel hub. After adding a bead of RTV rubber sealant to the blower motor side of the rubber seal, set the isolator unit onto the blower motor mount plate and gently line up everything with the three mounting bosses of the blower housing cover. With the three screws, reinforce the mount for the blower motor and fasten them to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). After that, reattach the blower motor cooling tube and plug the wire harness into the blower motor. If you have a blower motor at the rear which only appears on units with rear heater-A/C, start by isolating the battery negative cable, then cover and duct removal with the horizontal and vertical ducts and finally the upper housing. Loosen the three screws holding the blower motor mounting plate in place and remove the assembly from the upper housing. Detach the clip holding the retainer ring in its hub and pull out the heat exchanger fan from the motor shaft. When installing, press the hub of the blower wheel onto the motor shaft, make sure it is in the right place and put the retainer clip in place. After placing the rubber seal and isolator unit on the blower motor mounting plate, line up the blower motor and seal with the three mounting bosses on the upper housing and push the isolators over the bosses. After you secure the blower motor mounting plate with the three screws at 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.), put back the upper housing, horizontal duct, vertical duct and cover and reconnect the negative battery cable.
