Before handling the height adjust motor, be sure to look for loose locking paws, the locking pawl engaging with the seat frame sidemember or missing or broken shear pins; if you find any, avoid repair and replace the full height adjust assembly. First, separate and isolate the battery's negative cable, then get rid of the seat with the broken motor. Lift the seat cushion and pan out of the vehicle, unplug the motor's electrical cable and take out the bolts or nuts holding the motor to the adjuster. Next up, get rid of the screw and washer on the motor shaft and take the motor off of the seat adjuster. Before installing, make sure the seat adjuster is all the way up, fit the motor onto the seat adjuster and fasten the motor shaft screw and washer until they are snug. Fasten the screws that secure the motor to the seat adjuster to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.) and once more tighten these and the screw and washer on the motor shaft to 6.5 N.m (57.5 in. lbs.). hook up the motor electrical cord again, fix the seat cushion in place, secure the wire harness to the cushion pan and once again put in the seat assembly. After that, connect the battery negative cable back and see if the power seat assembly is working as intended.
