Be sure not to grease the electrical connector on the oxygen sensor when repairing it. Also, don't solder the sensor wiring harness, as it relies on an outside oxygen supply from the pigtail. Before starting, wait until the
Exhaust Manifold, pipes and
Catalytic Converter have cooled, since they heat up a lot while the engine is running. Raise and support the car, then break the connector free from the O2S sensor, being careful not to pull the wire by hand. Remove the O2S sensor with the removal tool and after that, use the appropriate tap to clean the threads inside the
Exhaust Pipe. Remember, the threads of the new oxygen sensor come with anti-seize protection applied at the factory, so no further application is needed while installing. Attach the O2S sensor and fasten it to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.), then link the O2S connector and bring the vehicle down.
