First, turn off the SRS before installing the brake light switch to stop the air bag from accidentally activating. You do this by removing the negative
Battery Cable, then waiting about two minutes. Bring the plunger in the brake lamp switch all the way to its extreme position and reattach the wire harness before you connect the switch to the brake lamp. Depress and keep the brake pedal down, set the tabs on the switch locking collar together with the keyed hole in the bracket and push the tab into the hole until you feel the switch housing seat against the bracket. Turn the housing part of the rotor switch counterclockwise about a quarter turn so the tabs on the housing are lined up with the mounting bracket. But don't pull the brake pedal any further than 9 kilograms (20 pounds) or you could break the
Brake Booster. Press and release the brake pedal, then lift it gently upward to its regular level, so that the plunger's adjustment makes a soft ratcheting noise. After that, put the steering column opening cover back on the instrument panel and link the negative cable once again to the battery.
