Before replacing the windshield wiper motor, pivot and linkage module, cut off the battery negative cable connection. Remove the
Wiper Arms from the pivots, then open the hood and attach the hood to the plenum seal so the forward sections of both covers press against the grille. Release the cowl grille cover by removing its six plastic nuts and lifting up at its left end, then go underneath, where you can detach the washer supply hose from the connector attached to the cowl grille cover. Remove the cowl grille cover from the cowl plenum and cowl top panels by working with the opening between the hood and windshield. After that, unscrew the four bolts holding the wiper motor, pivot and linkage module to the cowl plenum panel, then lift the left end of the module to get to the wiper motor wire harness connector and remove the left headlamp and dash wire harness connector from the wiper motor connector receptacle. Disconnect the wiper motor pivot and linkage module from the cowl works area. Put the wiper motor, pivot and linkage module into the cowl plenum, then raise the left end to expose the wire harness connector and connect the wiper motor with the connector from the left headlamp and dash cable. Place one of the mounting screws on the pivot hole at the right, close to the edge and the module will fit into the plenum. After that, install and tighten all four screws connecting the module to the cowl plenum panel to 8 Nm (72 in. lbs.). Place the entire cowl grille cover onto the cowl plenum and cowl top panels, gently raise the left end to work on the washer plumbing and attach the washer supply hose back to the in-line connector. Mount the six plastic nuts on to the studs as directed: first, install the short nuts on the third stud from the right and the second from the left, subsequent to which attach long nuts to the right outboard stud and the left outboard stud and then finish by screwing the remaining two long nuts on the third stud from the left and the second stud from the right. First, bring the hood to the plenum seal along the back, then fit the forward flanges to the cowl grille cover and plenum panel. While the hood hinge is still open, attach the wiper arms to the pivots and connect everything back to the battery, insulating the cable.
