  Q: How to Install the Wiper Linkage on Jeep Liberty?

  To install the wiper motor linkage, position the front wiper module into the cowl plenum as a unit and place the front wiper motor bracket rubber insulator over the weld stud located on the bottom of the cowl plenum. Loosely install the two screws that secure the ends of the front wiper module bracket to the cowl plenum, tightening the outboard screw first, followed by the inboard screw, to a torque of 8 Nm (72 in. lbs.). Next, install and tighten the nut that secures the front wiper motor bracket rubber insulator to the two weld studs on the bottom of the cowl plenum to a torque of 7.5 Nm (67 in. lbs.). Reconnect the wire harness connector for the front wiper motor to the motor connector receptacle and reinstall the cowl plenum cover/grille panel over the cowl plenum. Ensure the Ignition Switch is turned to the ON position, then cycle the front wiper switch ON and OFF to return the wiper motor and linkage to their natural park position before reinstalling both front Wiper Arms onto the wiper pivots. Finally, reconnect the battery negative cable.

  To repair and service the Wiper Motor linkage, first disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Subsequently, both the front driver's and passenger's-side Wiper Arms are removed from the wiper pivots. Next, remove the cowl plenum cover/grille panel from above the cowl plenum. Unplug the wire harness connector of the front wiper motor from the connector receptacle on the motor. Detach the two screws that hold the ends of the front wiper module bracket to the cowl plenum. Subsequently, the nut securing the rubber insulator of the front wiper motor bracket to the weld stud on the under side of the cowl plenum is removed. The last step is to detach the front wiper module from the cowl plenum.
