All engines have a new, high-quality oil filter, the full-flow and it should be replaced with an OEM (Mopar) filter at a minimum. Make sure there is a drain pan below the oil filter before anything else. Apply an oil filter wrench on the oil filter, turn it counterclockwise to loosen it and rotate another counterclockwise to take it out of the boss hole. After removing the filter boss, tilt the gasket portion up towards the oil to let the oil out slowly and check that the filter gasket was taken with the filter. Oil and dirt on the gasket's sealing surface should be wiped away with a cloth. While installing, grease the oil filter gasket gently with engine oil, insert the filter and screw it onto the nipple. After you have stretched the gasket onto surface 1, use your fingers to turn the filter 2 about one full turn, making sure not to tighten it too much. Next, pour oil, double-check the oil inside the crankcase and while operating the engine, watch for any leaks.
