When servicing and fixing the front crankshaft seal with the timing case cover fitted, cut off the negative cable from the battery, then remove the serpentine belt, vibration damper and radiator shroud. Remove the oil seal very carefully so that the seal bore does not become dirty. When installing, line up the seal's open end with the Timing Case Cover Alignment and Seal Installation Tool 6139, apply a thin coating of Perfect Seal or the like to the seal's outside and rub engine oil around the crankshaft. Subsequently, fit the tool over the hole in the crankshaft and insert the draw screw tool into Seal Installation Tool 6139, tighten the nut firmly against it until the tool is even with the cover. Once the tools are removed, lightly coat the vibration damper hub contact surface of the seal with engine oil. Apply Mopar Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant to the keyway of the crankshaft and put in the key. After that, fit the vibration damper, tighten the washer and secure the bolt by screwing it on 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.). Replace the serpentine belt so it is snug, fit the radiator shroud and link the negative cable back to the battery.
