You should disable the air bag system by pulling the negative cable off the battery before replacing the steering column cover opening to keep the air bag from deploying accidently. First, pull the fuse cover off the junction block (JB) and body control module (BCM) that are under the driver side outboard end of the instrument panel, then remove the cluster bezel from the instrument panel. Unscrew the screw securing the outside end of the cover to the u-nut on the instrument panel top pad and then remove the two screws holding the cover to the similar u-nuts under the instrument panel steering shaft plate. Reach over to the steering wheel and pull up the cover at the base of the column to unlock the three retaining clips and pull the cover free from the panel. To fit the cover on, position it over the opening in the instrument panel, align the three snap clips with their places and press each one to secure it. Attach the two screws at the lower part of the cover to the steering column support bracket. Then screw the extra one at the edge into the u-nut on the instrument panel pad. Attachment of the cluster bezel, fuse cover and battery negative cable completes this work.
