How to Service and Repair a Fuel Pump on Jeep Wrangler?

You should wear protective clothes and eye protection since there is a risk of being injured by fuel during service and repair. Make sure to pour fuel into OSHA approved and marked cans to keep yourself safe. There should be a rubber O-ring seal inside the fuel pump module, replace it if you service the module. Clean where the O-ring seal is on the fuel tank and change the rubber O-ring inside. Slowly position the fuel pump module into the tank, so the float arm is not bent, as this will help the fuel level gauge work correctly. Line up the O-ring ring and put the fuel pump module into the same spot you took it from using the orientation marks. Put the lock-ring over the fuel pump module and insert lock-ring remover/installer number 9340 into the notches on the lock-ring's outer rim. use a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar and the lock-ring remover/installer code 9340 together, rotating counterclockwise until the seven notches on the lock-ring are lined up. The last step is to put in the fuel tank.
