2000 Dodge Dakota Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Blower Motor Resistor on 2000 Dodge Dakota?
A: It is important to unhook and make isolated the negative cable from your battery prior to servicing the blower motor resistor. Take out the cover or grille panel above the air intake on the cowl top. Use the cowl plenum access hole to insert your finger and remove the two hex screws holding the blower motor resistor to the cowl plenum panel. After pulling the blower motor resistor from the plenum panel, free enough wire to access the connector, remove the resistor from the harness connector and take out the entire harness from the vehicle. To install, attach the blower motor resistor to the wire harness connector and push the resistor and wire harness all the way back through the cowl plenum access hole and onto the cowl plenum panel. Connect and fasten the resistor by tightening the two screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Connect the negative battery terminal, reinstall the cowl plenum cover/grille panel and that's it.
