2000 Dodge Dakota Blend Door Actuator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Blend Door Actuator on 2000 Dodge Dakota?
A: The repair or service of the air door actuator/motor should start with disconnecting and separating the battery negative cable. Remove the instrument panel assembly from the vehicle, unplug both vacuum harnesses from the actuator and take off the push nut retainer fastening the actuator link to the crank arm. After that, use a screwdriver to remove the screws connecting the actuator to the housing, detach the actuator's link from the crank arm and remove the actuator. For installation, you should reverse these instructions and tighten each mounting screw to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). The steps to replace the panel-defrost door actuator are the same as for the window regulator: disconnect the battery and take out the instrument panel assembly. Take out the vacuum harness connector, unscrew the two securing screws, move the actuator clockwise until it's free from the defrost door lever and remove it. Removing and reinstalling is done the other way around and then the screws have to be tightened to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) when completed. The recirculation air door actuator is found in models with air conditioning and must be accessed after removing the battery as well as the instrument panel assembly. If you have an Infinity speaker system, take out the amplifier. Release the two wires from the vacuum harness ports on the actuator, remove its nuts from the blower motor housing, release the actuator link from the lever and remove the actuator. To reinstall, put the actuator back into place, remove the remaining nuts and tighten them until the actuator touches the blower motor housing cover.
