2000 Dodge Dakota Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Camshaft Position Sensor in the Distributor on 2000 Dodge Dakota?
A: The position of the camshaft sensor is found in the distributor on all of these engines. Before taking out the camshaft position sensor, first take off the air cleaner and disconnect the negative battery cable. Afterward, take out the distributor cap by loosening the screws. Then, turn the camshaft position sensor wiring harness away from the main engine wiring harness. After that, pull the distributor rotor off the distributor shaft and haul the camshaft position sensor assembly away from the end of the engine casing. To install, line up the sensor in the notch and then put the sensor back into the distributor. Plug the wiring harness in, set the rotor in place and secure the distributor cap with the screws. The process ends by tightening on the air cleaner assembly.
