2000 Dodge Dakota Ignition Coil Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install an Engine-Mounted Epoxy-Filled Ignition Coil on 2000 Dodge Dakota?
A: At the rear of the distributor, an epoxy filled ignition coil is mounted onto a bracket on the side of the engine. First remove both the ignition coil secondary cable and the engine harness connector from the ignition coil. After that, remove the bolts or nuts holding the ignition coil in place on the bracket and take out the coil. To install, fix the ignition coil to the bracket and use just a wrench to tighten nuts and bolts to 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.); if only bolts are present, tighten them to 5 Nm (50 in. lbs.). After that, hook up the engine harness connector and the ignition coil cable to the ignition coil.
