2000 Jeep Cherokee Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Bleed a Brake Master Cylinder Before Installation on 2000 Jeep Cherokee?
A: It is necessary to bleed a new brake master cylinder first, then install it for proper service and repair of the brake master cylinder. You should have bleed tubes, made from brake line and a wood dowel for pushing on the pistons. Put the brake master cylinder into a vise, then join the bleed tubes onto the cylinder outlet ports and place the ends of the tubes into the reservoir. Now, fill up the container with fresh brake fluid and use the dowel to drive the cylinder pistons inward. Open the valve to allow the pistons out and let them return up under the spring's pressure, carrying on until you can't see any more air bubbles in the fluid.
