2001 Jeep Cherokee Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder on 2001 Jeep Cherokee?
A: Start the brake master cylinder service by taking out the brake lines at the brake master cylinder and combination valve and separate the differential pressure switch wire from the combination valve. Remove the mounting nuts from the bracket and get the valve out next. Remove both the mounting nuts from the brake master cylinder and then the brake master cylinder itself. Remove the cylinder cover to drain the fluid and clean or replace the brake master cylinder reservoir if you have to. If you replace the brake master cylinder, you have to bleed it before proceeding. Remove the cover on the main piston shank of the brake master cylinder, then clean the brake booster where the brake master cylinder will mount. Attach the brake master cylinder onto the brake booster studs, fasten it with 17 Nm (155 inch lb.) mounted nuts and install the combination valve using its mounting nuts. Secure the brake lines to the brake master cylinder and combination valve, tightening them about 124 inch lbs. and then reconnect the differential pressure switch wire to the combination valve. Then, run a fill and bleed procedure on your braking system.
