2000 Jeep Wrangler A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Reinstall an A/C Condenser on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: When taking off the condenser, check the positions of each radiator and condenser air seal, because these direct air through the condenser and radiator and should be put back in the same place for efficient fixtures. First, separate the negative end of the battery and afterwards get the refrigerant out of the refrigerant system. Lift out the three retainers under the upper condenser and take out the air seal. Remove the two screws that attach the brackets at the top of the condenser to the grille. Pull out the screws on the right side from the condenser, sequentially extract the inlet and outlet jumper tubes from the condenser and completely cover or close all opened refrigerant line fittings with plugs or tape. Release the three rubber retainers keeping the lower condenser air seal to the passenger side frame rail and to the grille panel bottom, then work off the lower air seal. Unscrew the two lower condenser mounting bracket screws and then remove each side's three radiator mounting bracket screws from the grille panel. Before lifting the condenser out of the vehicle, return the radiator and shroud toward the engine and be sure to steer clear of the radiator fins as you lift the condenser. Set the condenser in the car and attach and tighten the upper mounting brackets to the front grille with a torque of 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Attach the radiator brackets to the radiator's openings on the grille panel and install the six screws, tightening them to 8 Nm (72 in. lbs.). Attach the upper condenser seal panel to the grille panel using three retainers and then remove the tape or coverings from the condenser and the two jumper tube refrigerant line block fittings. Put the jumper tube block fittings inside the grille area and secure them to the condenser with two screws- tighten these to 12 Nm or 105 in. lbs. After placing the two screws that support the lower condenser bracket into the grille panel, fasten them to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.); put the lower condenser air seal onto the grille panel and passenger side frame rail, using three retainers. Lastly, attach the battery negative cable, take out the refrigerant and charge the refrigerant system. If you add a new condenser, add about 1 fluid ounce (30 milliliters) of recommended refrigerator oil to the refrigerant system.
