2000 Jeep Wrangler A/C Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Switch Control Assembly on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: The first step is to unhook and isolate the control assembly's negative battery cable. Pull the glove box and the center bezel out of the instrument panel. Open the glove box and reach the heater-A/C vacuum harness connector there. Then remove the two halves from it. After that, unscrew the four screws connecting the heater-A/C control to the instrument panel and draw out the assembly to get to the connections on the back. Take out the three wire harness connectors from the back of the heater-A/C control and pull the control off the instrument panel. Place the three wire harness connectors into the heater-A/C control, fit it into the instrument panel and hold it in place with the four screws, turning them to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Introduce the vacuum harness back into the glove box and connect both parts of the connector, after which replace both the glove box and the bezel. In the end, reconnect the negative battery cable.
