2000 Jeep Wrangler Ignition Coil Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace and Install an Ignition Coil on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: You need to replace the ignition coil with an epoxy filled type, if that is what was originally in the car. It is attached to a bracket behind and to the side of the distributor on the engine. To start, unplug the ignition coil secondary cable and the engine harness connector from the ignition coil. After that, unscrew the mounting bolts, as some coils may have nuts at the back of the bracket. The installation of the ignition coil after removal means placing it on the bracket, tightening any nuts used to 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.) and the bolts to 5 Nm (50 in. lbs.), if present. Then, plug the engine harness connector and the ignition coil cable once again into the ignition coil.
