2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose Suction Line in an HVAC System on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: The first step in replacing the suction line is to take out the refrigerant from the system. Unscrew the nut from the middle of the connector block that holds the joining of the suction and liquid line lines and pull off the fitting, removing the O-ring and disposing of it. Make sure the open port on the mid-line connector block suction line and the refrigerant line fitting is plugged or taped to prevent damage. Uplift and prop up the vehicle and then loosen and eliminate the screw holding the suction line fitting to the compressor discharge port. Please, put a plug or tape over the opened compressor suction port and the refrigerant line fitting before pulling the suction line out of the engine compartment. Taking the suction tube, move it into the engine space and then peel off any tape or cover from the compressor suction and refrigerant line fitting. Glide the end of a clean, unused rubber O-ring seal along the line fitting, ensuring you use only the ones made for the R-134a system and recommend refrigerant oil for the compressor. Join the suction line to the compressor suction port and tighten the screw to 12.2 Nm (108 in. lbs.) as it goes. Unscrew the vehicle from the table and pull or remove the tape or plugs in the mid-line connector block suction line point and refrigerant line fitting. Lubricate another rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and fit it over the refrigerant line fitting and then attach the suction line fitting to the mid-line block of the suction and liquid line assembly. Secure the nut on the suction line fitting to the mid-line connector block with a tightness of 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.). Now, remove all bad components and charge the refrigerant system.
