2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What Are A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches and How to Service Them on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: The first thing to do when servicing the low pressure sensor/switch is to remove and isolate the battery negative wire. Following this, separate the headlamp and dash wire harness from the low pressure clutch cycling switch placed on the low pressure accumulator's top. Release the low pressure cycling clutch switch from the fitting on the top of the accumulator and remove the rubber O-ring seal from the accumulator, getting rid of it. During installation, lubricate a new O-ring seal using refined R-134a refrigerant oil and place it on the accumulator fitting. Be sure to fit only the O-rings that fit the R-134a system and use only the recommended oil for your vehicle's compressor. Set the low pressure clutch cycling switch on the accumulator opening, fasten it by hand, attach the headlamp and dashboard electrical connector to the switch and tighten the battery cable negative terminal.
