2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser A/C Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Switch for Heater Control on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before beginning on the A/C heater control, remove the negative battery cable and open the hood. With the trim stick or an equivalent, carefully remove the front power window switch from the center bezel, take off the connector and take it out. After that, remove the main bezel screw and pull the HVAC control knobs off. Work the center bezel around and remove it, then unscrew the two HVAC control screws. Take the HVAC control out of the instrument panel and unplug the one wiring connector, one vacuum harness connector and the two control cables. To install the HVAC control, place it in the instrument panel opening, join the two control cables, the vacuum harness connector and the wiring connector. Insert the two screws of the HVAC control head, fit the center bezel, line up the fasteners with the slots and clip it into place. Attach the HVAC control knobs and screw in the one center bezel retaining screw. Connect the back of the harness connector to the power window switch closer to the front of the car. Then, move the whole assembly into the center bezel opening and secure it with a snap. Once done, attach the negative battery terminal, close the hood and confirm all systems are operating properly.
