2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Washer Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Washer Pump on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: First, raise the hood, switch the wipers On with the key in Accessory mode and turn the key Off when the wipers are in their highest point. Begin by detaching and separating the negative battery cable and next, remove the right cowl by peeling back the rear cover sealed with three retainers. After that, take out the three reservoir screws, unplug the pump connector and separate the washer hose attachments. Detach the washer reservoir from its spot in the cowl and tip it into a bucket to drain it. Softly lift the whole strap up, pulling the pump free of the grommet without piercing the reservoir and take out the grommet as well. When installing, use a grommet for every pump removal to avoid leaks. Set the grommet in the reservoir, fit the pump into the grommet and push it all tightly into the reservoir. Set the reservoir over the inside of the cowl and make sure the white hose goes on the pump's white area and the black hose on its black area. Connect the pump's wire, install the three reservoir screws using a torque of 8 Nm, put the right cowl cover in position, secure it with the two push retainers and finally place on the rear engine compartment seal. Return the negative battery cable, put the hood in place and confirm that all is working correctly.
