2002 Dodge Dakota A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose Without Compromising System Efficiency for Suction Hose on 2002 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before changing the A/C suction line, remove the negative battery cable and pull out the refrigerant from the system. Take out the a/c pressure transducer switch wire harness and break the connections to the refrigerant lines at the condenser and the accumulator, just remember to close all open line fittings with either plugs or tape. After that, disconnect the bolt holding the refrigerant line support bracket near the compressor and the screw connecting the refrigerant line manifold to the compressor, remember to install caps on all refrigerant line fittings. Get rid of the suction and discharge line from the car. For installing, take away the tape or plugs from every refrigerant line fitting, add the refrigerant line connectors to the condenser and the accumulator and secure the fasteners at 22 ± 3.38 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.) Install the refrigerant line manifold onto the compressor and when the mounting screw reaches 22 Nm (200 in. lbs.), install the fastener on the refrigerant line support bracket close to the compressor and tighten it to 6.77 ± 1.7 Nm (60 ± 15 in. lbs.). Connect the wire harness connector to the pressure transducer switch, reconnect the negative cable to the battery, remove all the air from the refrigerant system and add enough refrigerant to your system. Keep the flexible hose refrigerant lines smooth and straight, with bends no narrower than ten times their diameter and at least 3 inches from the exhaust manifold and any time check them for damage or improper connections.
