2001 Dodge Durango Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service and Repair a Second Row Seat Belt and Retractor on 2001 Dodge Durango?
A: Once service is complete, inspect the seat belts, buckles, mounting sections and retractors very carefully to look for any issues or wrong installation. When you find a cut, frayed or torn belt, any twisted belt, loose fasteners, a damaged buckle or retractor or a bent or broken latch plate or anchor plate in a belt, replace the belt immediately. Don't repair part of your seat belt; just replace the damaged part with a new one from the Mopar Parts Catalog. To remove both parts, unsnap the second shoulder belt and pull its cover, then remove the screw holding the turning loop to the height adjuster and also remove the shoulder belt turning loop. Pull the trim from the rear of the quarter inner panel and the rear quarter window to get to the second seat shoulder belt retractor and lower seat belt anchor, then undo the screws holding them in place and lift the second buckle and trim from the rear quarter window before removing them. Check the condition of the retractor shield on the C-pillar and secure it in place before fixing the retractor and tightening the attaching screw to 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.). Attach the lower belt anchor plate to the rear floor, fasten the screw so the attachment is tightened enough to produce 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.) of torque and once more put the molding in front of the rear quarter inner panel and the C-pillar. Place the shoulder belt loop onto the height adjuster, tighten the screw to 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.), snap the cover over the screw on the second seat shoulder belt anchor and check that both turn loops are covered.
