2001 Jeep Cherokee Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Repair a Brake Line Using Double Inverted Flaring on 2001 Jeep Cherokee?
A: To service and fix brake hoses or lines, use a metal brake hose whenever possible and when there are no factory replacement hoses, a double-wall steel tube may be used in emergencies. Brake tube bending should be done using specific tools and making a double inverted or ISO flare requires different special tools as well. After discovering the damaged tube, cut it off with proper tubing method and flare the tube edges using a Reamer. Secure the tube nut from the replacement tube and place the end of the tube into the flaring tool. Fit the gauge over the tip of the tube and keep pushing the tube through the flaring tool jaws until it reaches the recessed notch in the gauge meant for your tube's diameter. Next, screw the tool bar into the place on the tube and push the end of the gauge onto the tube. While rotating it, slide the compression disc over the dial and direct the pointed flaring screw into where the flaring port is on the disc. Hold the plug gauge in place with the tool handle, so it sits square on the flaring tool's jaws and tighten the handle to flare the plug.
