2002 Dodge Dakota A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install an A/C Accumulator in a Refrigerant System on 2002 Dodge Dakota?
A: Remove the accumulator by mounting the battery to a safe position, then empty the refrigerant from the refrigerant side. Take the wire harness connector out of the loss of pressure switch. Should your car have the part, unbolt the bracket that secures the servo and move the servo so you can see and remove the couplers from the refrigerant line. Free the fixing screw on the dash panel, separate the suction line from the accumulator and plug or tape all of the open fittings on the refrigerant lines. After that, unfasten the secondary clip on the accumulator inlet tube refrigerant line from the accumulator and seal each exposed fitting with plugs or tape. Take the accumulator and retaining band unit all the way forward so that the screw on the band is past the slot in the bracket on the dash panel and then take out the accumulator. To add the accumulator and retaining band, slide its screw into the slotted hole of the support bracket on the dashboard and push the assembly in place. Unwrap the tape or unplug the lines leading from the accumulator and the evaporator, then join both lines to the accumulator and tighten the fasteners to 25.99 - 3.39 Nm (230 - 30 in. lbs.). Tighten the screw on the accumulator retaining band to 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.), secure the other end of the wire harness to the low pressure cycling clutch switch and link the battery negative cable. Take out all the refrigerant from the system before charging it properly. When the accumulator is installed, you need to place 90 milliliters (3 fluid ounces) of the approved coolant into the car's cooling system.
