2002 Dodge Dakota Blower Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Service the Blower Motor with an Airbag System in Place on 2002 Dodge Dakota?
A: To start servicing the blower motor on a vehicle with air bags, first disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable to disable the air bag system, then allow 2 minutes before beginning work so the air bag system capacitor can discharge. First, disconnect the negative cable on the battery, take out the lower right kick panel and unplug the blower motor. Also, take out the three screws holding the blower motor and blower wheel in place on the heater-A/C housing and remove the assembly from the passenger compartment side. Install and tighten the blower motor and wheel assembly inside the HVAC case using three screws at 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). First, reattach the blower motor electrical wires, then install the lower right kick panel and end with attaching the negative battery cable.
